Professional summary
After working for many years in clinical pathology labs I focused on the challenges laboratory medicine has to face today. High quality standards require extra resources, continuous education and (sub)specialization to ensure the optimal treatment of individual patients. This is only possible when laboratories work together in a dynamic network organization, sharing expertise and develop and implement new diagnostic methods (including molecular biology) in the routine diagnostics.
Another field of medicine that has my special interest is integrative health. Our current medicine is good when it comes to standardized specialist medicine, but a lot is left behind when it comes to complex problems that require customization. To meet this need, we have established the Dutch Integral Health Institute.
